Do you want to migrate your data, servers and workloads to the AWS Cloud? Then you are at the right place!

From migrating Windows & Linux servers to different applications you run, AWS offers a scalable and modern platform for deploying your infrastructures and workloads.

As a long-standing and strong AWS partner, we can support you in your journey to the AWS Cloud in the best possible way and facilitate cloud migration for you with the help of AWS Partner Programs with funding money from AWS.

We ensure that all aspects of cloud migration are considered from cost optimization, security & compliance, Landing Zone and (cloud) operations processes to technical implementation.

To do this, we follow best practices using the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and can provide you with the best possible advice centrally across all topics - such as cloud strategy, project and partner management, and on all technical implementations.

Advantages of migration to the cloud

  • Scalability & Flexibility
  • Cost Efficiency
  • Security & Privacy
  • Access to state-of-the-art technologies
  • Automation & rapid deployment
  • Data Availability & Recovery

Our Approach

1. Optimization and Licensing Assessment

A suitable start for your path to the AWS Cloud is the „Optimization and Licensing Assessment“ – in short OLA. This produces a comprehensive report that analyzes your server landscape, identifies Windows licensing status and risks, presents AWS migration costs, recommends additional cloud services, and helps you make your cloud decision with migration scenarios and PoC identification.

2. Migration Acceleration Program (Assess, Mobilize, Migrate)

1. Assess

The Assess phase is the first step in the AWS MAP process. In addition to a TCO analysis, which can also be covered by OLA, this phase involves evaluating your existing enterprise IT infrastructure and applications to determine which workloads can be migrated to the AWS Cloud and how best to do so.

Find out more about Assess

In addition, a Migration Readiness Assessment (MRA) is carried out within this phase, which focuses primarily on organizational aspects surrounding a cloud migration and creates corresponding derivations and focus points for the Mobilize phase.

Thus, the Assess phase is crucial as it creates a sound basis for the entire migration process.

2. Mobilize

Within the Mobilize phase, a wide variety of preparations are made to ensure that the subsequent migration within the Migrate phase is as efficient as possible.

Find out more about Mobilize

This includes operations processes, the detailed migration plan and test migrations, security & compliance aspects and the subject of the Landing Zone.

The Landing Zone serves as a central and secure entry point to AWS. This provides you with the necessary applications and services to manage multiple accounts within the organization securely and effectively according to best practices.

You can find more detailed information here: https://www.sva.de/en/aws-landing-zone

So, as part of the Mobilize phase, your data and workloads will be looked at more closely and the following questions will be asked, among others:

  • Which workloads are to be migrated?
  • How can these workloads be optimized, especially with regard to cost optimization, performance and security?

Once a clear picture has emerged here and the infrastructure has been prepared accordingly, a detailed project plan for the migration is drawn up and the migration phase can begin.

3. Migrate & Modernize

After the two initial phases "Assess" and "Mobilize", your infrastructure and process landscape is optimally prepared for the final phase.

Within the Migrate & Modernize phase, the workloads are migrated to the AWS Cloud according to the pre-determined migration methodology, cost-optimized in the same course and handed over to operations.

In the event of a lift & shift migration, modernizations can be carried out accordingly afterwards.

During the course of the project, we support your administrators and internal teams with training so that they are optimally prepared for the new infrastructure and can guarantee the corresponding know-how for operation.

The trainings are always conducted as hands-on workshops in order to be able to comprehend a wide variety of questions and viewpoints.

7Rs

Migration models

The AWS "7 Rs" describe different ways to handle servers and applications within an AWS cloud migration:

  • 1 Relocate – the server can be migrated to VMware Cloud on AWS using, for example, vMotion.
  • 2 Rehost – the server/application is migrated towards AWS EC2 as a native virtual machine, also known as Lift & Shift.
  • 3 Replatforming – the server/application is moved to a new platform such as Amazon RDS for fully managed databases.
  • 4 Repurchasing – the server/application is replaced accordingly by a newly purchased functionality from the AWS Marketplace. As an AWS Marketplace Skilled Consulting Partner, we can also provide you with excellent support for Marketplace topics.
  • 5 Refactoring – the supreme discipline of cloud migration: Here, the server/application is rewritten and redeployed according to the latest technologies such as containers or serverless.
  • 6 Retire – the server/application is decommissioned and switched off due to lack of use.
  • 7 Retain – the server/application will remain in the on-premises data center due to various topics.
