The German Aerospace Center (DLR) is Germany’s research center for aerospace technology, alongside energy, traffic, security and digitalization topics. Thanks to the successful business relationship with the systems integrator SVA System Vertrieb Alexander GmbH and its team of experts in Berlin, an exciting joint project was brought to life, in which the DLR and SVA are cooperating in the doctorates of two employees.

For a period of three years, Franca Speth, Data Scientist at SVA and PhD student at the Goethe University Frankfurt (image on right), and Carsten Hartmann, STRATOS Flight Controller at the DLR at the German Space Operations Center in Oberpfaffenhofen and PhD student at the Universität der Bundeswehr in Munich (image on left), will research the subject of human space flight together. The primary focus is on the deployment of artificial intelligence in astronautical space travel.

“The visit to the DLR site in Oberpfaffenhofen kicked off this unusual cooperation, which combines the innovative apprenticeship paths of a regionally focused systems integrator with cutting-edge technological approaches, and thus creates global milestones in manned space travel,” said Jörg Madlung, Regional Manager for SVA East, explaining SVA’s talent development initiatives. “With a team specifically put together for this task, we are happy to provide nationwide support to the DLR and are looking forward to other joint fields of activity in the future.”
