Monitoring, Logfile and Compliance Management
Monitoring, Logfile and Compliance Management for Optimizing the SDDC
For many companies, setting up an SDDC goes hand-in-hand with creating a private cloud. But businesses generally cannot reserve the same amount of capacity as a cloud provider can. As a result, the IT department must monitor the SDDC to prevent performance bottlenecks. Just as important is the use of logfile management to secure security-critical log data, both for compliance reasons and to optimize the SDDC.
Monitoring
Monitoring an SDDC is extremely important, as IT departments must deliver sufficient capacity and performance at all times to keep all systems running. Various products and solutions are available here that perform analyses and generate reports in different levels of detail. Alongside monitoring the current system state, the monitoring tool should also offer long-term monitoring in order to analyze the growth of the SDDC. This analysis is important, as it allows the SDDC’s capacities to be adjusted in advance.
Log management
Central log management allows the log files of different systems to be compiled and assessed. Many providers already offer modules focused on the log files of certain components. Central log management can also support the analysis of performance problems and IT security incidents.
Compliance monitoring
Monitoring the compliance aspects of infrastructure is a challenge for many businesses. Compliance guidelines can be defined internally or specified externally, such as the IT baseline protection compendium from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Manual monitoring and assessment is vulnerable to errors and often difficult to perform. Permanent solutions that ensure constant compliance are a better choice here.
