SDDC Management System
Optimized management for a software-defined data center
Effectively administering an SDDC requires a comprehensive management solution. This needs to cover hyper-convergent infrastructure, network, container and cloud, so that all components can be controlled via a single console and any software and firmware updates can be installed centrally. There are many different solutions on the market. Finding the right one for you depends on a range of different factors.
What are the important factors?
Providers already offer solutions for SDDC management, although these mostly focus on a single location. If a customer has multiple data centers or wishes to combine their on-premises environment with a cloud system, a central management solution is required. This ensures that the remote locations are in precisely the required state. In addition, the solution should offer a range of workload patterns, such as virtualization or containers.
Hardware and software updates
When selecting a suitable management system, hardware and software updates play a major role. That’s because this is where they make managing the environment much easier. Providers release pre-tested updates, removing the need for the IT department to manually check whether the hardware and software are compatible with the components used.
On-premises and cloud
Good SDDC management software allows customers to manage cloud resources just like local ones. Ideally, the software will enable the monitoring of cloud usage (either directly or via third-party add-on), in order to optimize the associated costs.
