Extensive possibilities

zGuard offers various interfaces for interaction. You not only have direct access to the hardware console, but also to components like the complete OPERLOG, SMF, the security system (e.g., RACF) and the workload manager (WLM). This last element plays a decisive role when process resources are changed. If a z/OS is limited, for example, it is essential that the WLM only stops the non-time-critical workload. Otherwise there is a risk of negative impacts on your business at unexpected moments, making the WLM of limited benefit.

zGuard allows you to position yourself much better here. All of the workload manager’s service classes deliver consumption and delay values every minute. The “zIIP on CP” consumption is visualized, allowing you to respond before it becomes a cost factor. This approach is underlined by processor topology data. The calculated values enable an interactive HiperDispatch ranking of your LPARs, allowing you to unlock the full potential of your platform.
